Plastic recycling opportunities are unlimited

as long as the quality is satisfactory, consumers are willing to buy products made of recycled plastics, which is one of the facts obtained from the research completed by Heidelberg ecological integrated market and research company in Germany. The company focuses on market research related to ecological products. It has asked a total of 498 decision makers and 1400 families from the plastic industry. Its purpose is to analyze why the recycled materials have not been successfully penetrated into the plastic market, and what are the possibilities for the development of market potential

high level of consumer acceptance

consumer acceptance of recycled plastics is very high. In the range from the lowest value of 1 to the highest value of 7, the score is 5.19. The respondents said that when buying a product, they will give priority to products containing recycled materials rather than those without recycled materials. For them, the most important benchmark is quality. When they purchase recycled products, the feeling of making personal contributions to the protection of natural resources plays almost the same role. More than half of the consumers asked were even willing to bear a little extra cost for products made of recycled plastics, with an average of 12%. For other consumers, products need to be cheaper. In the direct environment of the person being questioned, other family members play the largest role in purchasing decisions. Moreover, most chucks on 6.4 ball experimental machines pay attention to whether they are invalid. People have formed the habit of separating waste and will not regard it as a nuisance. Most people think that it is worthwhile to recycle plastic for curve comparison, amplification and other analytical functions, and it is better to deal with it by other methods

survey data show that plastic recycling is the most popular environmental technology. The plastic industry did not take this positive phenomenon seriously or accept recycling to a high degree

however, the survey also shows that people still lack understanding of recycled plastics, and most of the people asked can't name any kind of recycled plastics. The most well-known fact is that pet, PVC and EPS (expanded polystyrene) can be recycled (Figure 1). Most consumers will welcome the labeling of plastic products containing recycled materials. When it comes to estimating the proportion of recycled materials in household goods, there are obvious differences: Although professionals in the plastic industry believe that this figure is about 5%, a large number of people believe that the proportion of recycled materials exceeds 50%

children and friends also make decisions

for the plastic industry representatives included in this survey, quality is also the most important. In particular, the plastic industry also attaches importance to the smooth processing and functional performance of recycled plastics. Surprisingly, the second most important benchmark was the opinions of their children and friends. If they like to use recycled plastics, this will become one of the most important reasons for processing recycled materials except for a small part of strong electricity. Almost as many decision makers also believe that they are making contributions to environmental protection through the use of recycled plastics, but they believe that it is unlikely that they will leave a better image on end users

in the plastic processing industry, the understanding of recycled plastics is very different. Although 85% of the respondents knew PVC recycled materials, only 39% were familiar with polyethylene recycled materials. On the other hand, there are 251 kinds of products containing recycled materials, which are named together with the formula (Table 1)

the difference in the scope of application is obvious. The automobile and construction industry (20% each) and the electrical and furniture industry (11% each) processed a total of 62%, or nearly two-thirds of the recycled materials (Figure 2). In 2005, plastic processing enterprises used about the same amount of recycled materials. Growth in scale is unlikely in the near future, but growth can be foreseen in the long run

summary

◆ in the short term, the dosage of each recycled material will not change greatly. The link between familiarity with specific recycled materials and limited applications shows the lack of market transparency and insufficient understanding of the types and potential uses of recycled materials. Do more work and explain the situation to customers, and it will be possible to realize huge sales potential

◆ the diversity of sources makes it necessary for recycled material manufacturers to contact customers differently in order to achieve a broad sales market. For each manufacturer, it also provides a good opportunity for them to position themselves in the market

◆ in the target market, some industries have become major customers. The greater potential in some specific industries, such as the furniture industry, remains to be analyzed

◆ in many cases, (potential) users doubt whether the technical performance of recycled materials can always be free of problems. In this case, it is necessary to determine whether the real technical problem is involved, or whether it is only a case of poor image. The latter can be as small as a mobile phone watch or even a part of a product. The spring can be improved by transmitting more information

◆ many enterprises in the plastic processing industry recognize the environmental benefits of the utilization of recycled materials, but do not recognize the potential generated by the limitation of crude oil. Therefore, it is suggested to emphasize the use of recycled materials in protecting resources and enhancing its image

◆ products containing recycled materials should be marked

◆ when purchasing products, we should tap the potential of influence from private circles through solid communication

due to the existence of regulatory provisions (tasi2005) and the improvement of cost-effectiveness, plastic recycling will become more economical and competitive

related links: analysis of plastic recycling in China

the plastic recycling industry has broad prospects in China. The plastic industry is the pillar of the national economy, and recycling is the only way for the sustainable development of the plastic industry. Plastic recycling can not only save resources, alleviate the contradiction between supply and demand of plastic raw materials, but also make important contributions to environmental protection. China has obviously not done enough in this regard. Making the plastic recycling industry develop healthily and continuously is a great good thing for the country and the people. It should be said that this industry has made great progress in recent years. Some places have formed a certain scale. The local government took advantage of the situation and cultivated recycled plastic industrial parks with an annual output value of hundreds of millions of yuan. It is expected that the government will give better play to its functions and issue relevant regulations and standards to correctly guide the recycling of waste plastics. Operators in this industry should improve production technology, integrate science and technology into production, improve product quality, create brand products, and pay attention to saving resources and preventing environmental pollution, so as to bring benefits to themselves and society
